First Post of Letters From Minnesota

For years I tried to forget Minnesota. I left the state, lived out west for a time and traveled around our beautiful country wherever and whenever I could. I still love traveling, can't get enough of it but no matter how much I may temporarily want to leave, I am always so grateful to come home.

The autumn leaves are falling, the days are getting noticeably shorter and cooler. I know a part of my soul flinches this time of year dreading the depth and length of our long winters. The old joke of Minnesota having two seasons, winter is coming and winter is here seems more like a threat then humor. Yet still there is a part of me that grows a quiet pleasure at the impending changes of the seasons.

I often try to clarify in my mind what it is that makes this home for me. Why are these my people, my places, my heart? This blog is part of my journey. I hope you will enjoy sharing it with me.
